Fisheries

The Bahamas Development Bank supports sustainable fisheries through targeted investment and training in this sector. Fisheries contributes $600M annually and supports over 27,000 jobs across the Bahamas. There are opportunities for growing the sector through catch diversification e.g. lionfish and pelagic species harvesting. Waste reduction projects increase economic return to fisher-people while supporting sustainable catch levels. Technology for advanced processing methods also increase the return the fishers receive on their harvest.
