Andros Community Cluster Project

Empowering Communities, Preserving Heritage.
The Bahamas Development Bank (BDB) was proud to serve on the steering committee of the Andros Community-Tourism Cluster Initiative—a transformative effort uniting over 120 local enterprises, entrepreneurs, and agencies across North, Central, South Andros, and Mangrove Cay.
This pioneering project positioned Andros as a model for sustainable, year-round nature-based tourism. By focusing on flats fishing, birdwatching, cultural heritage, and other value-added experiences, the initiative supports economic diversification while safeguarding the island’s rich natural and cultural resources.
BDB’s involvement helped to ensure access to the strategic planning, financing tools, and capacity-building support necessary for the success of the cluster. Together, we are:
- Building community wealth by strengthening small and micro-enterprises
- Driving digital transformation through branding and tech integration
- Boosting competitiveness in niche markets through targeted training
- Ensuring sustainability with a clear focus on conservation and community governance
This project reflected our continued commitment to place-based development that is inclusive, sustainable, and resilient—exactly what the future of The Bahamas demands.
